After having spent 7 years at a Big 4 firm in the international corporate tax environment, I was offered the honorable role to build a team of Foreign Direct Investment specialists with NFIA at the Netherlands Consulate General in New York. In my role there as a diplomat, I was responsible for springboarding US-based companies towards (further) expansion into Europe. This included i.a. establishing European headquarters, European warehouses and logistics, regional sales offices and R&D operations in all industries. Specific guidance and experience involved taxes & incentives, supply chain, VAT & customs, talent, site selection, immigration procedures, work permits and government relations. Within the NFIA, I was the Lead for our Dutch business climate with a focus on (international) tax and transfer pricing.
